Question: How do I make SooNews.ca my homepage?
Answer: The easiest way is to CLICK AND DRAG THIS LINK onto your browser's "home" button, which looks like a little house.

Alternatively: For Internet Explorer, click on the "Tools" menu at the very top of the window, above the "back", "stop" and "refresh" buttons. In the Tools menu, click on Internet Options, at the bottom of the list. A window will pop up. Near the top of this window, you will see a text field labeled "Address". Erase what you've got in there, and enter in "http://www.soonews.ca", exactly like that but without the quotation marks. At the bottom of the window, click "OK". You're done! Now every time you go to surf the web, the first thing you'll see is the Sault's latest News, Sports and Weather on SooNews.ca.

Question: Why does it look like graphics are missing, and some features and links don't work?
Answer: Products like Norton Personal Firewall and Norton Internet Security have been found to block all of the JavaScript, and many of the graphics on SooNews.ca. This seriously hinders usability of the site - many links, and many of the graphics rely on javascript, and all the graphics are needed to view the site properly. Norton products incorrectly assume that SooNews.ca is causing some kind of security or privacy threat by using javascript or certain graphics. This is completely false - our javascript and graphics are used only to display the web site properly. SooNews.ca recommends setting up these products to allow javascript and graphics on SooNews.ca. Instructions on this can be found here.

Question: The video doesn't load up at all. Why?
Answer: Our video stories are encoded as Macromedia Flash files. You need to have the Flash plugin installed in your browser. Click here to download the Flash player. Another possibility is that a popup blocker is blocking our video player from being loaded. Adjust your popup blocker to allow popups on SooNews.ca. There is no popup advertising on SooNews.ca.

Question: I'm searching for something on the News, Sports, Business or Columns pages that I know exists in an article, but the search is returning zero results. Why?
Answer: The search algorithm used on these pages filters out a lot of regular English words, like "the", "a", "she", "he", etc. Try instead searching for nouns, names or verbs, and your search should work.

Question: Why do I get the message "Sorry, it appears you've already voted" when trying to vote in the poll?
Answer: It means that someone on your computer has already voted in that poll. SooNews.ca prevents multiple voting to protect the entertainment value of the poll. When SooNews.ca creates a new poll, you'll be able to vote on it.

Question: I've found a broken link, error or omission.
Answer: Please contact us immediately.
